client G.W. double tax rebate

DOUBLE TAX REBATE

This was another client involved in construction. Self employed for several years he had worked under the CIS scheme, had his annual self employed tax return done by a local accountant and as a result received from HMRC an automatic self employed tax rebate each year due to having already suffered too much tax deducted at source from his contracting work under the CIS 20% deducted at source programme. Everything was in order, he didn’t owe any penalties, and all his affairs were up to date.We find with new clients this is very common. It’s a misconception to think that folk only come to us to sort out a problem. Far from it in fact. Most new clients are simply taking advantage of the fact that it doesn’t cost them anything to have ‘everything checked’.

This chap had seen our website, had a read, and thought, mmm, why not give them a call. So he did, and he asked us to take a look. Here’s what we did, and here’s how we achieved for him a double tax rebate.

Like all the previous clients you have read about and indeed all the clients you haven’t, we appointed him his ‘OWN’ tax agent. So that’s his very own individual, working just for him. Not a huge confusing team, or an office number that he had to negotiate his way through just in order to get an update. One guy. One tax agent. All his and working exclusively on his case. That way he had a specific ‘go – to’ contact all the way through.

We then took care of his imminent tax return which was due just at the time he came to us. We had seen his previous years returns and frankly, we were impressed with how neat and professional they looked, no problems there we told him, BUT, the rebates he was receiving we felt were not what they should be. After guiding him through our process we then got all his figures for his trading year and created the return. After letting him take a look and check that it was OK, we then submitted it.

And the end result of all that was in a very short time, in this case, around two weeks, we were happy to inform our client that we had secured for them a self employed tax rebate of £2724.89. Not one of our biggest but a healthy sum, and significantly higher than any rebate he had previously received, so he was very happy indeed.

But it didn’t stop there. We then re-visited all his previous years tax returns, re-calculated his expenses using the allowances he was entitled to, and then submitted something called an ORC claim to HMRC on his behalf. And THAT resulted in a FURTHER REBATE, approximately eight weeks later of £2858. So this client received a double tax rebate of a total of £5582.89.

NOTE. This combination of a ‘double tax rebate’ for a new client is quite common.

And remember, at no point did our client have to put their hand in their pocket. Their total involvement in the process was simply to press the ‘claim now’ link on this page and fill out their details and then press send. And that’s it.
